In this piece, I wanted to capture the layered beauty of rural New Zealand through the lens of cultural diversity. The vast land and endless sky serve as a canvas, symbolizing the many different perspectives that converge in this space. The undulating, textured hills represent the enduring connection to the land, while the intricate pattern in the sky hints at the weaving together of various cultural influences—each contributing to the rich tapestry of Aotearoa. Through abstraction, I sought to distill the essence of the land and sky, leaving room for each viewer to interpret and reflect on their own connection to this shared space.Photographed by award winning photographer, Janyne Fletcher GMNZIPP. This image won a silver distinction award at the 2024 Iris Photography Awards run by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.
